Murray Bailey
Murray Bailey is a travel business analyst, and the research director at Travel Business Analyst. He splits his time between Hong Kong and France. He has also edited numerous print publications and periodicals, including the Sourcebook on Travel and Tourism, which compiles regional and local-market travel industry statistics and serves as Asia Pacific’s only comprehensive travel compendium. He has done research and analysis for a number of major organizations including Cathay Pacific Airways, American Express, the European Travel Commission, the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the International-Continental hotel group, and the World Travel & Tourism council.
Travel Business Analyst has had a history of success with its predictions in Asia and Europe. In Asia, in 2007, Travel Business Analyst predicted that Ryanair would become the largest airline in Europe (much like Southwest did in the U.S., in terms of number of seats sold), in just two years time. At the moment, Air France is ahead, but Travel Business Analyst believes that Ryanair is sure to overtake them this year. Also in 2007, Travel Business Analyst predicted that Easyjet would outsell British Airways, and they were correct. In Europe, in June 2004, Travel Business Analyst predicted that the Valuair experiment would fail to last an additional year. They also predicted—in February 2005—that Jetstar Asia would fail. In July 2005, Travel Business Analyst’s predictions proved correct when the firm failed. Bailey is well known for his work ethic and his predictions are always based on careful market research.
